Jacqueline and Gareth’s Wedding at L’Auberge Del Mar

JacquelineGarethBlog-87

What do an African safari, an Icelandic volcano, and a stag party in Vegas all have in common? They all tie in to how Jacqueline and Gareth fell in love! Jacqueline, from sunny California, was on vacation climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro when she met a charming British boy in a safari truck. They took up some light conversation and exchanged information not thinking much more of it, but still kept in touch here and there. Awhile after their trips to Africa, Gareth had plans to go to his friends bachelor party in Las Vegas. He remembered that beautiful California girl and decided to reach out to her letting her know he would “be in the area”. This is when fate came along. If you remember in 2010, the volcano named Eyjafjallajökull erupted in Iceland, causing most air travel in Europe impossible from the ash. Basically, Gareth wasn’t able to go home for a bit longer. Jacqueline took it upon herself to spend this extra time with the boy from England. This is when they realized what they had was more than just a fling…

Jacqueline, being a great world traveler, had no problem deciding to pack up and take her schooling to London. Now the two were actually living in the same city!! Their love bloomed and they knew they couldn’t be without each other anymore. Gareth took the big step as well, and moved to San Diego with his girl, and now they are MARRIED!!

Jacqueline and Gareth were married at L’Auberge Del Mar over a beautiful Labor Day Weekend. And if fate wasn’t obvious enough for these two- the volcano gods wanted to show their approval by erupting yet another Icelandic volcano this week! It was almost as if it were saying, “Hey! Remember the part we played in this!? Congrats, you two!” from all the way across the world. Before the ceremony, Jacqueline and Gareth had a first look outside of L’Auberge. Gareth turned around and his jaw dropped. He could NOT stop staring at her!! He kept calling Jacqueline his “American Princess”. After the ceremony, guests were fed cute British themed appetizers like fish and chips, and little tea sandwiches. They celebrated on the Pacific Terrace rooftop of L’Auberge, and danced the night away.

If you didn’t think these two have seen enough of the world together…don’t worry! They recently left for their honeymoon….in Bora Bora.  Congrats!!

A Stroll in the Park

Even though we are still in the middle of this hot and unusually sticky summer in San Diego, Fall is still coming! Now is the perfect time to get the gang together for some family portraits. I met Tracy and her boys at a nearby hiking trail spot which is a nice contrast to the be achy waves we have all come so accustomed to. Little Owen was very excited to have his picture taken, AND to look for the lizards that kept scurrying away from us as we hiked on. The sun was starting to set, but not before blasting us with a bit more of that hot summer heat. It was quite the enjoyable stroll in the park, and Owen was rewarded later for being such a good model with some ice cream.

Theresa and Jerome’s Wedding at the Martin Johnson House

TheresaJeromeBlog-60Theresa and Jerome are Californians by heart, but when they met, they were both NYC dwellers. After meeting in the Big Apple, and then falling in love, Jerome proposed to Theresa on Valentine’s Day by the fountain in Lincoln Center. They had plans to move to sunny San Diego, and that is where they were to be married! While most of their family is also not from the Golden State, relatives were flying into Southern California from all across the country. They wanted their wedding to be simple, but FUN. It was also a very personal and DIY event. Since Jerome is an AMAZING pastry chef, he made the cake himself!! Theresa’s own brother was the officiant, and a friend of hers from NYC designed her wedding dress. (It is killer, huh!?) The venue of choice was a perfect backdrop of beautiful San Diego. The Martin Johnson House is an intimate venue that sits on top of a cliff just overlooking the Scripps Pier and La Jolla Shores. Weather was on our side as the sun blazed down upon us and the waves below. Both Theresa and Jerome are such a great couple. Even after a disaster in their apartment a week prior to the wedding (the fire alarm set off the water sprinklers, flooding their place!), they were able to look on the brighter side and realize that they still had each other and no serious damage to their wedding day plans. I had SO much fun at their wedding. Their friends and family were a bunch of characters and the food was AMAZING. I wish upon you many years of happiness together!
