Molly and Matt’s La Jolla Engagement

MollyMattEngagementBlog-52Molly and Matt live in a terribly cold and extremely windy city named Chicago, but were lucky enough to be in sunny San Diego for the record breaking hottest Thanksgiving southern California has yet to see! (OK, I am a bit biased on San Diego vs. Chicago of course, since I live here. But Chicago is a beautiful city too!). But we DID luck out with beautiful weather for their engagement shoot, and I’m sure they were glad to be here in San Diego missing the polar vortex hitting the Mid-west. When we discussed options for locations, they knew they wanted to end at a beach for sunset. Matt has family in San Diego, so he knows it well and has taken Molly to some of our gorgeous beaches before, including Windansea Beach. The story goes, that one day while visiting this beach, Molly was expecting Matt to propose there…but he didn’t! Don’t worry- he DID propose on a beach in Thailand, so everything worked out perfectly, and they now have their engagement photos at Windansea Beach instead.

We started off the day at the gorgeous Herringbone restaurant in La Jolla, (another place Matt has taken Molly too). The fun and playful decor of the restaurant matches perfectly with these two bubbly characters. They seriously could not stop giggling their entire time with me. Molly and Matt are extremely happy together and I can not wait for all the fun we are going to have at their wedding next fall! Congrats, you two!

**A special Thank You to everyone at Herringbone who let us come in early before the dinner crowd hit to take our photos!

Millie and Ernie’s Downtown San Diego Engagement

MillieErnieEngBlog-55

Ernie was one of the first people I met when I moved to San Diego a few years ago. We both taught swim lessons at a local swim school. He was so bubbly and nice- everyone loved him! I knew that if the rest of the people I met in San Diego were half as nice as Ernie, then I’d end up loving this beautiful city and staying for quite some time!  A few years later through the power of Facebook, I discover that Ernie is engaged! I couldn’t wait to hear how he met his beautiful fiancé, Millie. We met up for a coffee date and I asked! Turns out, it was one of those serendipitous moments. They were both invited to a friends wedding. She was heading to her car in the parking lot and he was racing to put his belt on by his car and make it in to the wedding! They were introduced by friends and hit it off immediately. The rest, they say, is history. Millie, a city girl, fell in love with the country boy.

For their engagement shoot, we did a “mini” walking tour of downtown San Diego. We strolled along by the convention center, said hello to the GasLamp District sign, and had a glass of wine at Toscana. We lucked out with weather and having a peaceful, uncrowded downtown. I can’t wait for their wedding next summer in Balboa Park!

The Holidays are on the way!

Fall time is everyone’s favorite time of the year. (“Omg is that a pumpkin spice latte I smell brewing?”). Especially after one of San Diego’s 9-month-long-hottest-ever-summers, the crisp air is something we all look forward to.  Not only is the weather something to cheer about, but some of the ULTIMATE Holidays hang at the end tail of the year; Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas…

Two days after Halloween, I met Kourtney and her family at Marian Bear Park for their family Holiday photos. Now, some would say that the day after Halloween you are allowed to start hanging Christmas decorations. I have always disagreed with this! It is like skipping over the most scrumptious, delicious, gluttonous day of the year like it doesn’t exist! My rule is no Christmas lights go up until the day of Thanksgiving. But really….there are no rules.  Either way, we can all agree that this time of the year will ALWAYS be family holiday photo time.

As a side note, little Asher is one of my new favorite models. He LOVED the camera! His smile is contagious and umm….can I keep him!?!?! Take a look at this adorable fall time family shoot.
