Barbara and Hernan’s Gatsby Themed Oviatt Penthouse Wedding, Downtown Los Angeles

BarbaraHernanBlog-118

As Barbara was getting her finishing touches done to her hair and make-up in her hotel room hours before the wedding was to start, Hernan had sent my assistant over to deliver a special message in Barbabra’s ear. As she whispered his love note to Barbara, a big smile came across her face. “Can you tell him that I love him so much, and that I can’t wait to marry him?”. It was a prelude to romantic and sincere the rest of the night would be. For their first look, Hernan’s jaw dropped as he first set eyes on his bride to be in her gorgeous art-deco Berta wedding dress. He just couldn’t believe that HE was the lucky man that got to marry this beautiful, hard working, loving, and fun woman in front of him. We all walked down the block to the Oviatt Penthouse in downtown Los Angeles, where their wedding was being held. The building, which was built in the late 1920’s, was perfect for their Gatsby themed event! Feathers, pearls, and gold were decorated everywhere. The ceremony started just as the sun was setting over Los Angeles. After reading each other their vows, both families incorporated traditions from their heritage, (Polish and Argentinian). They said I do and walked down the aisle as Mr. and Mrs.!

What great Gatsby wedding would be complete without some 1920s entertainment right? After Barbabra and Hernan shared their first dance as husband and wife (which was an Argentinian tango by the way!), guests were entertained by the Bling Divas! These cute flappers really started the party, and even incorporated Hernan into their show. It was such a fun night! Guests were even dressed in their best feathers and pearls, while sipping on old fashioneds all evening. Congrats to such a genuine couple!

Ria and George’s Malibu Engagement Session

RiaGeorgeBlog-40Ria and George came all the way from Toronto to enjoy this breathtaking scenery for their engagement shoot. They happened to be in the Los Angeles area for the week for a friend’s wedding. They figured it would be the perfect time for a photo-op! When discussing locations they knew they wanted that perfect Californian beach setting (who can blame them, right?). We picked El Matador Beach because not only is it known for it’s beauty, but it is nearby the Malibu canyons. Up in the mountains, our forecast threatened us with rain. As you know, Californian rain doesn’t really exist, and instead we lucked out with a moody mist that rolled in through the hills! After our little drive around the windy roads, we reached the beach for sunset. These two were a lot of fun to hang out with, and they are truly in love. They hold and touch each other with such care and emotion. They can’t wait to get married next spring back home in Toronto! Congrats Ria and George!RiaGeorgeBlog-1RiaGeorgeBlog-2RiaGeorgeBlog-3RiaGeorgeBlog-7RiaGeorgeBlog-6RiaGeorgeBlog-9RiaGeorgeBlog-5RiaGeorgeBlog-12RiaGeorgeBlog-16RiaGeorgeBlog-17RiaGeorgeBlog-23RiaGeorgeBlog-20RiaGeorgeBlog-25RiaGeorgeBlog-27RiaGeorgeBlog-28RiaGeorgeBlog-30RiaGeorgeBlog-31RiaGeorgeBlog-33RiaGeorgeBlog-35RiaGeorgeBlog-34RiaGeorgeBlog-36RiaGeorgeBlog-38RiaGeorgeBlog-40RiaGeorgeBlog-39RiaGeorgeBlog-42RiaGeorgeBlog-43RiaGeorgeBlog-45RiaGeorgeBlog-44RiaGeorgeBlog-47RiaGeorgeBlog-49RiaGeorgeBlog-50RiaGeorgeBlog-51RiaGeorgeBlog-53RiaGeorgeBlog-55RiaGeorgeBlog-56RiaGeorgeBlog-57RiaGeorgeBlog-59RiaGeorgeBlog-60RiaGeorgeBlog-61RiaGeorgeBlog-63RiaGeorgeBlog-65RiaGeorgeBlog-68RiaGeorgeBlog-69RiaGeorgeBlog-71RiaGeorgeBlog-76RiaGeorgeBlog-77RiaGeorgeBlog-79RiaGeorgeBlog-82RiaGeorgeBlog-84RiaGeorgeBlog-87RiaGeorgeBlog-89

Mai and Julius’s Serendipity Gardens Wedding

MaiJuliusBlog-113

Mai and Julius wed overlooking a beautiful mountain landscape on a cloudless day at Serendipity Garden Weddings. “Serendipity” means; luck that takes the form of finding valuable or pleasant things that are not looked for.  Maybe that is what happened one night almost 9 years ago at a nightclub when Julius asked Mai for a dance! Here is how they met in his own words: “We met like most 20 something year olds do: at a nightclub in 2006. Long story short, we were introduced by a mutual friend, I offered the dance, and after that, the rest is pretty much history. We’ve spent eight years together, basically our entire 20’s together. In this time, we feel that we’ve not only grown so much in our relationship together, but also helped each other grow independently into the people we are today. I feel very lucky to have found someone to spend the rest of my life with. I can’t wait to live out all of our hopes and dreams together and I am so thrilled to look back at this story 50 years from now knowing how our lives unfolded, and remember where it all began.”

Mai and Julius’s wedding was absolute bliss. They each gave their best friends in their wedding party unique and fun gifts. The bridesmaids were gifted a box filled with heart shaped sunglasses, a mini Sofia champagne bottle, Advil, coco vaseline, Kate Spade earrings, and personalized thank you cards. The groomsmen opened their customized boxes to find a cigar, Ted Baker socks, custom money clip, black tie, gold tie clip, and thank you notes with mini Glenlivet bottles! Mai also put in a lot of extra work for the big day. All of the signage and calligraphy was done by her, as well as individually stamping the pink match boxes with “M +J” stamps purchased from Esty for the party favors. The bride and groom also provided their guests with “his and hers” cocktails. Julius’s drink was vodka soda and Mai’s was a Paloma (tequila, grapefruit soda, and lime). The guests enjoyed a perfect Californian sunset and then were able to snack on some s’mores by the fire pits, before sending off the bride and groom with a sparkler exit. They are now off to their honeymoon in Aruba!!! Congrats to Mai and Julius!
