Molly and Matt’s Mission Beach Wedding

MollyMattBlog-73

There are some weddings you look forward to all year to be a part of because you know how amazing they will be in all aspects. Cute fun couple; check. Beautiful, beachy location; check. Amazing styling and decor; check. Crazy, fun, talented dancing family members and guests; unexpected but CHECK! From the getting ready process, all the way to the end of a few crazy hours on the dance floor, Molly and Matt’s wedding was nothing but special. Molly recalls how it all started in her own words:

“Matt proposed on a beautiful island in Thailand called Ko Samet. We were visiting family in Thailand and this was our vacation within a vacation. To get there you literally jump off the motor boat into the warm, sandy beach water. Enlisting my brother’s help, Matt called my father long distance the night before to ask for my hand in marriage. The proposal was a total surprise because while I had been tapping my toes waiting for a while, I did not expect it to happen while we were there. Matt proposed on the beach by presenting a Bird of Paradise flower with my grandmother’s ring resting on one of the petals. Since my brother was in on the plan he was able to capture some photos of the special moment. I was so caught off guard that I think my first response was “are you being serious?” It was a terrific, unforgettable trip.”

Both Molly and Matt are dance teachers. Matt teaches ballroom dance while Molly teaches ballet. They met at a dance studio in Chicago, and eventually started to dance together as partners, which then turned into them becoming partners in life. Along with being great dancers themselves, a lot of friends and family members also dabble in the dance world. At their reception, I think I saw everything from ballroom dance, ballet, salsa, interpretive (??), and even a really cool robot move. It was dramatic and exciting, and I couldn’t keep my eyes off the dance floor!

Coastyle Events did an amazing job with the design and decor, having the Mission Bay Women’s Club dripping with gorgeous flowers from Sugar Rose Flowers. It was laid back and casual, yet stunningly perfect. The guests enjoyed some aggressive giant jenga while snacking on churros and Italian gelato for dessert! Congrats to Molly and Matt and I wish you a lifetime of happiness and dancing the nights away!

Megan and Brandon’s Martin Johnson House Wedding

MeganBrandonBlog-213

I truly had never seen a bride so giddy to see her groom for the first look before a wedding! Megan had a huge smile on her face as she walked up to Brandon to tap him on the shoulder so he could see her for the first time in her wedding dress. Really, ANYtime she was with Brandon that night she had a huge smile across her face! They truly make each other incredibly happy. They met a few years back at a climbing gym, and then Brandon taught Megan how to climb outdoors. Now they do it as much as they can!

They live up in Northern California, but got married at the beautiful Martin Johnson House in San Diego. Southern California, along with one of the worst droughts it has ever seen, is currently fighting off an intense, 1 month long heat wave. Everyone had been hoping for rain or a cool day. The ONE day it was due to rain, was on Megan and Brandon’s wedding day. Maybe it was a metaphor for “watering the seed of their future”, or having their special day be the extraordinary weather day, but the forecast wasn’t looking good. As guests arrived, rain drops were lightly falling on their umbrellas, as they huddled under the building to stay dry. About 5 mins before the ceremony was to start…..it just….stopped. Not only did it just stop raining, but the clouds parted and the sun BLASTED down upon us! Everyone quickly helped to dry off the ceremony seats and Megan and Brandon walked down the aisle to get married! They even got to enjoy a perfect sunset which the Martin Johnson House is pretty famous for providing. While the weather really lucked out for everyone, my favorite part of the night might have been when the Photo Booth opened up, and a guests were able to take photos with the life-size cut out of the bride and groom’s pup who was unable to attend the festivities! Congrats to Megan and Brandon, who recently went on their honeymoon for exceptional lovers; Paris!

Maria and Tony’s Bahia Resort Wedding!

2015-10-02_0058

Maria and Tony are two fun, sweet people. Their wedding was just like their personalities, adorable, energetic, romantic, vibrant, and lovely! They are up for anything and found the perfect spot in San Diego for all of their friends and family to witness their exchanging of vows to one another. The Bahia Resort Hotel is a fun spot located on Mission Bay. It is lush with green palms and ponds filled with aquatic birds. Maria has been counting down the days for the past year or so until she finally got to say “I do” to Tony. While Maria was getting ready with her girls, across the resort Tony was relaxing and goofing around with his buds. He patiently waited for her to tap him on his shoulder for his first look at his soon to be wife before the ceremony began. Maria had a few tears of joy running down her cheek as he turned around to see her. She couldn’t wait any longer to marry this man!

The rest of the evening was filled with fun, food, and plenty of laughter! I loved all of the sweet and romantic touches put together by Maria and her wedding vendors. It was a fun group to be around and everyone had marvelous things to say about the blushing bride and her groom! Congrats to such a sweet couple!!
