Brittny and Jon’s Napa Winery Wedding

BrittnyJonblog-61

Brittny and Jon’s love story actually began about 10 years ago without them even knowing it! They both are in the Navy, which is where they met. Brittny flies helicopters, while Jon flies jets. (Hence their wedding hashtag of #fromwingstorings!!) Here is how Brittny remembers how it all began: “Jon went to the Naval Academy with my twin sister, Jessica, and they were in the same company. They went through a bootcamp called “Plebe Summer” before their first fall semester of their freshman year. At the completion of their summer, they had a Parent’s Weekend where they invite the families up to be with them before the start of the semester. I met Jon that weekend in an ice cream shop in Annapolis while I was sitting with my family. He walked in with his family and I thought he was the most gorgeous man I’d ever seen. My sister introduced us, and four years later we both commissioned as officers in the Navy in the same month, started flight school together in Pensacola, FL and became close friends. We started dating a year after that (summer of 2010).” When it was time to propose, Jon got down on one knee in the privacy of Brittny’s apartment balcony, with an origami letter he made. Brittny describes it as “private, spontaneous, from the heart, and at home. It was perfect.”

They decided to have their wedding up in Northern California at a family member’s house and vineyard. You could not ask for better weather! Everyone was looking sharp, with a lot of their Navy friends in attendance. The ceremony was held amongst the vines, and it ended with the traditional military sword arch! Usually, this is to “welcome the bride to the Navy”, but since Brittny is already in the Navy, the boys declared, “Thank you for your service!”, with a quick tap to the bum with a sword! The rest of the evening was just as beautiful as the couple. There were some interesting dance moves to cap off the night, and everything was just perfect. Congrats to this amazing, sweet couple!
